Dr. Monica Joshi is a native of northern Virginia, which is where she began her journey caring for animals. In 2008, Dr. Joshi started as a seasonal veterinary assistant at Ridge Lake Animal Hospital, while working through her undergraduate degree in biology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Between college semesters, Dr. Joshi returned to Ridge Lake Animal Hospital to continue developing her veterinary skills and knowledge under the close mentorship of our previous owner and lead veterinarian, Dr. William Kusterbeck. Dr. Joshi achieved her doctorate’s degree through Ross University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in the West Indies and completed her clinical year at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2016, Dr. Joshi accepted the position of associate veterinarian at Ridge Lake Animal Hospital. In January of 2022, Dr. Joshi became our Lead Veterinarian at Ridge Lake Animal Hospital. Dr. Joshi is fluent in English and Spanish and is passionate about promoting pet health and wellbeing by providing thorough and exceptional client education. Dr. Joshi loves being a firsthand witness to the incredible bonds shared between the pets and pet parents we serve. When she’s not at work, Dr. Joshi enjoys playing volleyball and tennis, snowboarding, gardening, music, and drawing. Dr. Joshi also makes hand-painted jewelry out of recycled rabies tags and donates a portion of the proceeds to the Global Alliance for Rabies Control!
